Hobbies, Free Time and Social Environments.

Listening Comprehension (listening skills):


Develop and comprehension of phrases and common expressions through dialogues and oral presentations using English Language including visual support, making questions, express agreement and interests, indicating abilities to develop actions.
Recognize thematic vocabulary of the unit.
Identify the usage of expressions to indicate preferences, likes and dislikes.
Discriminate sounds between pair sounds:  p/b, t/d, c/g  





Reading Comprehension (reading skills): 

Students show comprehension of information about descriptive and narratives topics and presenting language usage, including visual support related with free time, hobbies and social activities.
Recognizing thematic vocabulary of the unit
and identifying the usage of simple structures to narrow, make questions and expressing preferences and likes and dislikes.

Expressing orally through short and simple monologues and dialogues giving information about activities related with hobbies, free time expressing preferences and describing abilities using:

Thematic vocabulary of the unit or common expressions showing preferences like:  love/hate + -ing

Students will write simple and short text with informative and descriptive proposal related with free time, hobbies and social activities that have to include:

Expressing preferences
Expressions that indicate abilities or inabilities

Lexicon of the unit: Sports, places, free time activities.
Usage of Uppercase, full stop, question and exclamation marks.




Thematic vocabulary: 

• Free time and social activities: watch TV, play computer games, go to the cinema, dance, cook,
etc. 

• Sports: play football/basketball/volleyball/tennis; practice/do gymnastics, ride a bike, ride a horse, 
etc. 

• Places of the city: stadium, gymnasium, school, park, at home, at a friend’s house, etc.


For communicative expression the curriculum suggest the usage of sings for expressing preferences such as:

ACTIVITIES









First class


   

   Lesson Plan: 



1.- Teacher will create a brainstorming in conjunction with students giving words and phrases about hobbies that they usually do or practice and social activities and resources:


2.- Once the topic is already introduced. Teacher will guide students to the next activity:


They will watch videos such as:







3.- The third activities is recognize sounds of the video games, without watching the images just listening; so, this time it will become in a game.

Instructions:


  • The classroom will be d¡vided in four parts.
  • One member of each group will be representing their group competing with the members of those others groups so.
  • Teacher reproduces just the sound and students have to make the gesture of each action that is named in the video.

5.- Teacher will show in the smart board words of different kinds of hobbies, so: 


It shows slides of different kinds of interest like: sports, places, social networks and students will express short and simple phrases indicate like, don't like (dislike) hate or love for them.
This activity is a game with score.

6.- To wrap up, students will name new vocabulary that they learnt to demonstrate that the objective of the class is done in a correct way.

Second Class


   Lesson Plan: 





1.- Teacher will refresh students memory showing an image and asking questions to students:



1.- What is name of this room?
2.- What is the usage?
3.- Is this a room for a boy or a girl?

1,2.- What are the things that make you think that is a room of a boy/girl?


1.- Is this a room of a girl or a boy?
2.- Do you like this room?
3.- What things will you change?

1,3.- Imagine what is the age of the owner of this room, and why?


1.- What is the name of this place?
2.- What can you do there?

1.-What is the name of this place?
2.- What can we get there?
3.- what can not get there?

2.- Teacher will explain that there are actions that you can not do in some places like:

Go to the drugstore for video games.
Go to the library for buying cupcakes,
etc.

3.- So, students will create their own prezi, (computers lab class already taught them who create prezi project). First evaluation of the unit: Formative though a rubric. 

Instructions:


  • Create pair collaborative team
  • brainstorming actions and places that you: like, don't like (dislike), love and hate.
  • Create a prezi project/presentation with all of them.
  • Create slides for each one indicating: 
  1.  Showing Image or video
  2.  Description
  3.  Reasons why you like 

  • Comparing your classmate of team selection and saying why you don't like or like the stuff or selection of  your classmate.
  • Three slides for each category: 


  • 3 slides of likes, 
  • 3 slide for dislikes, 
  • 3 slides for hate and 
  • 3 slides for love.


  • Comparison and contrast, as conclusion. Naming four actions or places that you share and four that you can share together giving the reason for.

Remember:
One of the criterion for being evaluated is creativity, the example already shown is just an example, do not copy it!
Students have two classes to develop this activities.
Students are allowed to asking any doubt.
Limit time to present the oral presentation. 5 minimum to 15 maximum minutes each group.

Third Class





   Lesson Plan: 




1.-Teacher explains the objectives again of the activity that students have to create, giving instructions and answering doubts.

2.- Students have to be preparing to present their Prezi, they have 30 minutes to fine-tune the details.




3.- Each group present their Prezi presentation, they have 1:30 minutes to present.





4.- Wrap it up the activities, teacher ask vocabulary that were presented by the student, but student don't need to translate, just make gestures of the actions or give some glues if it's a place or an object.

Fourth Class 



   
   Lesson Plan: 






1.- Teacher gives a refresh to students memory again, asking the last activities that were presented and what they learnt.

2.- Teacher carries student to the computer lab and create a Facebook account for this group. 




3.- They all make an agreement for give a name of the group on Facebook.

3.- All students of the class join in that group, teacher will upload each prezi presentation.

4.- Students will comment the prezi presentation of their classmate saying:

I don't like that because...
Where do you practice this sport?
